The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is one of the most historic and recognizable motorsports venues in the world. Opened in 1909, the facility hosts globally recognized events including the Indianapolis 500, Brickyard Weekend, and multiple national and international racing series throughout the year. With seating capacity exceeding 250,000 and race-day attendance reaching more than 300,000 guests, IMS operates at a scale few venues can match.
Beyond racing, the Speedway functions as a year-round sports and entertainment destination featuring premium hospitality spaces, corporate events, concerts, and large-scale public gatherings. Maintaining reliable communication, audio coverage, and broadcast infrastructure across such a massive venue is essential to delivering a safe, engaging, and modern fan experience.

Project Goals Include:
Force Tech partnered with Indianapolis Motor Speedway to deliver a comprehensive $6 million design-build technology project focused on modernizing critical audio, video, and broadcast infrastructure throughout key areas of the facility. The Speedway required updated systems capable of supporting large-scale race-day operations while also improving flexibility and usability for year-round events and hospitality environments.
Rather than implementing isolated upgrades, the goal was to create a more reliable and centralized infrastructure designed around operational efficiency, consistent performance, and long-term scalability.
Engineering a Large-scale Venue Solution
Large-scale sports and entertainment venues present unique operational and infrastructure challenges, particularly in environments where communication clarity, reliability, and coordinated system control are critical. Force Tech’s scope included a complete renovation of the public address system to improve coverage and intelligibility across multiple areas of the Speedway while supporting race-day operations involving hundreds of thousands of attendees.
A major component of the project focused on the Pagoda suite level, where Force Tech designed and integrated a fully automated AV environment featuring distributed audio and integrated LED display technology. The system was built to support flexible content distribution, simplified control, and premium hospitality experiences while remaining easy for staff and operators to manage during fast-paced live events.
The project required extensive coordination with Speedway operations, careful infrastructure planning, and integration within an active world-class venue environment where reliability and operational continuity were essential throughout deployment.
Results
The completed system positioned Indianapolis Motor Speedway with upgraded audio, broadcast, and AV infrastructure designed to support both modern race-day operations and year-round event experiences. Improved public address coverage and intelligibility helped strengthen communication throughout the facility, while upgraded broadcast and hospitality systems created more flexible workflows for operators, staff, sponsors, and guests.
The Pagoda suite upgrades delivered a modernized premium hospitality environment with centralized AV control and integrated display technology capable of supporting live event content, sponsor programming, presentations, and large-scale entertainment experiences.
Today, the upgraded infrastructure helps support one of the most demanding sports and entertainment environments in the world while providing the scalability, reliability, and operational flexibility required for future growth and continued venue modernization.
